Danmission was established in January 2000 through a merger of Det Danske Missionsselskab (the Danish Missionary Society, DMS) and Dansk Santalmission (Danish Santalmission). Since the merger, Danmission has continued the efforts begun by Det Danske Missionsselskab in 1821 and Dansk Santalmission in 1867.
